I started dosing NeoPhos as my phosphates were down to 0 and i was combating a Cyno problem. I have been dosing for the last 2 weeks each day after measuring levels with RedSea Phosphate test but still no signs of Phosphate. I think the Cyno has slowed down but still there. At this point i have almost dosed the whole bottle and still not signs of Phosphate. I also checked with an API test once and that didnt register Phosphate.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

I did dose NeoNitro to raise Nitrates and that was successful.

That’s very likely an issue with the test kit. I’d be surprised if you have such an efficient phosphate export in your tank. I would try getting a Hanna checker.

I don't know how diluted that stuff is as I've never used it, but when I dosed nitrates in the past, I feel like I was using a lot more than that on a system less than half that size.

Neophos, not Neonitro...I had a few beers on my lunch break...

I have actually used Neophos, and I still feel like you may be under doing it. I would definitely get a second opino on your testing before making any other changes. maybe take a sample to an LFS.

I dose both NeoPhos and NeoNitro with good results. There are delayed results in my experience at the recommended dose of about a week or 2 to start seeing levels rise. Once they do start to rise though they seem to rise quickly so I'd caution going too high on the dose or you may get a spike once it starts to register.

10ml per day on 250g isn't a whole lot for a heavy stocked tank so it might make sense that you haven't seen any rise yet. Is this a heavily stocked mature tank?

What PO4 test are you using?

If you're looking for precision, hanna phosphate checker is your key. I've used api with zero reading, then was shocked to find with a hanna i was at .20......

I can report exactly the same experience with neophos. I guessed that some of it was being absorbed by rock or substrate and once that was saturated the levels would rise rapidly. But it's just a guess ...

The tank is lightly stocked with 3 different tangs, small trigger, 2 clown and a lawnmower blenny.

I think ill get Ultra Low Hanna before adding anymore NeoPhos

Q - Any reason I can't dilute the NeoPhos solution? I need to dose about 2.5ml a day and would much rather do a 5:1 ratio mix w/ RODI water, allowing me to dose 12.5ml a day, better spacing it out.

I'm having a similar issue, i've been dosing neophos in my coral qt, its been about 3 weeks for me and im still getting nothing. Im using 2 hanna checkers a LR and a ULR i normally get 0 maybe .1 on the lr and 8 was the highest i got on ULR. Its a 25 gallon tank with about 15 frags and a maxima clam, 12 or so hermits and 20 or so snails. I feed the corals every other day and dose 10ml of neophos daily. Today i was off work so i was able to test it several times. After Dosing I had 1o ppb on the hanna ulr, and around 5 nitrates, 2 hours later i tested and 0 on the ULR and still 5 nitrates. I wonder if they clam is sucking it all up but i was having the same issue before i added it, however not as bad.

Just wanted to add I'm using a fairly basic filter system with just biocubes, filter socks and a skimmer but i took the skimmer offline yesterday.
