Wife is setting up an tank with a LFS maintenance contract.

the guy who setup the sump has the return pump in the sump and it is extremely noisy. when we lift it up off the bottom the noise goes away.

So I got a neoprene rubber gasket material 3/8" thick and about 18" square.

If I bleach it, clean it with soap, thoroughly rinse it and soak in it Fw for at least a day, to get all the industrial oils and stuff off, should that be safe?

thanks in advance.

Just for the record this material was from a local gasket company not the lfs.

If you had concerns about the material, what if you just took some old tubing that you have laying around that you know is reef safe and cut it in half long ways to make a big half-circle shaped bumper. Use reef-safe glue to fasten the bumpers to the bottom of the pump and that would probably work too. Unless you need a good tight fit and if so, nevermind this post lol.

thanks.

it's actually a flat 18" square 3/8 thick sheet of gasket material. I'll cut to size.

Meanwhile anyone in the local area need gaskets?

Thanks randy.

and don't give me that "happy reefing" stuff.

(send it to the wife.):D
