Neptune AFS noisy?

Anyone else have issue with noise from AFS?

I hooked up my Neptune AFS and it is definitely louder than any other auto feeder that I’ve used in 10+ yrs. I have looked over the forums and don’t see much in the way of complaints about noise, so maybe it’s just this one I have. Any ideas on how to quiet it down if you’ve experienced this noise problem would be appreciated.

I saw one post where the guy put it in his sump in the return section and let the return pump carry the food up to the display. He had to put a powerhead in that chamber to make sure all the food got picked up.

other then that, it is what it is i think. mine's pretty noisy as well.

They are very loud. I have three of them over my 220 (with different types of food in each), but eventually you just get used to it. The noise is also a good indication that the fish are about to be fed, so you can run over and watch them eat if you want.

Yeah, it's loud, but the fish recognize the sound and swim over for lunch. I only use mine for vacations due to how loud it is.

Yeap they are loud, luckily it doesn’t last long, it does confirm the feeding is happening. Definitely louder than any other feeder I have had.

I have my AFS programmed so that the Vortechs and skimmer turn off. Anytime I turn the vortechs off for maintenance all the fish are immediately in the corner by the AFS waiting for food.
