The Apex Base Unit - It All Begins with the Brain
The Apex Base Unit is basically the brains of your entire Apex System. The Apex Base Unit (ABU) is far different than from what any other controller at this price level is offering. The ABU is basically a small computer whose only job is take care of your aquarium. It has a 32-bit microprocessor and a built-in web server. The web server makes it possible for your to configure and operate your Apex from any network-connected computer or mobile device – no software to install on a PC – it also means it’s Mac compatible!

Im new and sorry for the stupid question but i see this is a discontinued part, is this basically a Apex jr just a a bit older?

This is one step up from apex Jr. You can hook up more modules to it. And it comes stock with pH probe. They still have this, but it does look like an older one

The apex lite is basically a full apex minus the dimmer ports and second Ph/ORP port. It is better than a Jr as it has a ph probe port and doesn't have the 4 outlets attached so you will have more mounting options. If a time comes that you need the dimmer ports or second Ph/ORP port, you can add it with add on modules. Even though it's discontinued, it still functions just like a brand new Apex with the latest firmware installed and is still supported by neptune. I'd take a lite over a jr any day.

The only thing I don't like about the Jr, is the lack of outlets. But, there's always virtual outlets!

I'm new to Apex also,...what do the dimmer ports do that are on the full Apex? thanks!

I feel like I'm dumb for not jumping on this. Am I correct in assuming that all current sensors will work with no problem and I won't be chasing down "older" items?

No Offense, but 10 mins on Google or the neptune apex site would probably give you quicker answers.
