Hello im sure this has been discussed before so i apologize for the repetitive topic.

Im thinking of finally investing in a controller system and leaning hard wiht the neptunes espeically with all the good reviews on the DOS and Trident for stability.

My only concern is the one point fail. If the neptunes wifi or the internet at my house goes out which it does once a year or so .. will this effect my tank? What parts of the system will fail.. does the trident and DOS need wifi to maintain the stability of dosing?? Or will everything work besides fusion while the internet is out?

ALso im assuming if the brain dies it will then shut down. I think this would be dangerous as the flow, heater, and dosing is connected to the system, which I probably wont even get a notification.

The Apex will continue to run as normal even without any network connection. If your Internet service is down, you can still access and control the Apex from your own local network, just not from anywhere outside.

All the programming is stored and processed on the Apex itself. Internet connectivity is just a convenience.

If the Apex brain dies, then each output on the EB832 (power bar) will operate based on its Fallback setting. So for example, if your return pump is powered by the EB832 output 1, set it like this:

Fallback ON
Set ON
If FeedA 000 Then OFF

In this example, the pump will always be On due to the Set ON command, unless you click the Feed A cycle which shuts down the pump until the feed timer expires. However, if the Apex dies, then the pump will just stay On forever due to the Fallback ON command. It cannot process any other programming when the Apex is dead.

The DOS and Trident will not run if the Apex is dead.

ahh i thought the devices were all communicating with each other through an internet network.. but make sense that they do it with a local connection because everyhting is hardwired.

Thanks so much .. your thread on the DOS and TRIDENT is whats making me want it so bad.. Might have alot more questions for you in the future!! haha. Willing to even pay for advice later on if its technical.
