Were you able to downgrade the vortech and go back to controlling it through wxm?

I just got instructions from Neptune to control the Vortechs from Apex. Unfortunately, they confirmed you need to use a WXM. I'm still debating if it's worth buying it or if I should just settle with fixing and coordinating the APEX and Mobius schedules.
