Neptune ATK - Optical Sensors in the dark?

I'm considering the Neptune ATK. I plan on having my equipment in the cabinet under the tank. When finished, its possible this are will be completely dark. Do the optical sensor still work in the dark?

Well I was not aware they wete infared but mine are in the dark most of the time, no problems
