Merry Christmas everyone !

I have a Neptune ATK question. When I was changing ATO reservoirs and switching my ATK pump from the old one to new, I realized the pump (especially where the black cable is) is feeling a bit oily (with no smell), however, it doesn't seem to be oil either but sticky and definitely not water.

The pump was just used purely in an ATO reservoir with RODI water for ~6 months. Could this be a sign for a potential issue about to happen?

Many thanks, in advance.

Thank you very much. Would cleaning the pump with vinegar (submerging with diluted vinegar) hurt the pump?
You will be fine with that, and the oily substance might just be some form of bio film that’s formed while under water. I sometimes get that on various bit’s of equipment even when in pure water.

Thank you very much, @SPR1968 I will clean it with the vinegar and will make it part of regular cleaning from now on :)
