Hello everyone. I have recently built a 400 gallon system with about a 200 gallon sump. Due to little room this sump has been spread over quite a few different tanks. 2 of witch has its own return pump system. This means that the water level in the return chamber of the main system up to the display tank can vary in height. This is the chamber that i measure for evaporation. On all of my previous systems i have used Smart ATO for top off. This has worked flawlessly for many years now. I like it because of the added safety of switching off if it pumpes too much or too often as it would if you had a leak somewhere.

But since the water level in my return chamber goes a bit up and down due to the design of the system (this effect will be amplified when i add my surge tank system) this ATO will go into error mode every two-three days. Which is annoying, and i need this part of my system to be reliable as i am often out traveling.

So I have started to look for a new system, and it looks like the Neptune ATK V2 system (I have apex classic) is the best solution. But i have a few questions.

How reliable has this system been? I am not very pleased with the WAV pumps from apex.

As mye water level is going up and down, sometimes the water level will be above the high sensor. Will this cause any problems?

If i understood correctly the only reason for the pump to go from Auto to Off is if the 5 minute pump time is exceeded. Is this true?

And, are there any other systems out there that would be an option for me? Pure mechanical system with only float switches is not an option.
