I am re-entering the reef aquarium word after a 25-year absence, man things have changed with technology. I recently set-up my Red Sea aquarium with a Neptune Apex System with DOS and DDR for alkalinity and calcium control. I started with Aqua Vitro (Seachem) 8.4 for alkalinity and it has been working well. It is expensive at $43/liter. I was recommended using Seachem Reef Builder to maintain alkalinity (KH). It is a powder and was hoping someone had a recipe to make it by the liter or any volume that I can calculate. Would like to still use DOS to maintain levels. Is this a good idea? Will the powder stay in solution of RO water? Just looking for a less expensive alternative.

So the 2 part is for calcium and alkalinity so therefore I would only need to run one Neptune DOS? Sounds stupid to ask but I must. I did pick up a trident and not sure how the control interval will work.

If I wanted to stay in 1 part to match with set-up and Trident do you have recommendations?

Thanks I wish there were computers 25-years ago where you could source information instantaneously.

Disregard above, I get it, researched and watched videos, thanks.

I like ESV as it includes other minor elements along with alk and cal.
BRS is will work and is cheaper. User preference.
I too use the DOS along with Trident to maintain levels and works well.
