Neptune DOS AWC Question

I’m thinking about using the DOS for water changes. However my water mixing area is in my basement but my sump is on the floor above. If I where to put the DOS upstairs near the sump would it have the power to draw the water up from the basement?

I have a similar setup. Mixing station in the basement tank on the floor above and using a dos for AWC. I just ran a long aquabus cable and put the dos in the basement then ran tubing to sump. Which was more for noise reasons. While the does is not very loud it is not silent either. The dos is rated for 24 ft head and suction height so should work either way. No issues pushing new water in and sucking old water out from the basement.

I have my DOS in the basement directly below the tank(on first floor). Pulls water 40 ft across the basement no problem. But it did take awhile to prime.
I cant hear it unless the house is completely silent or I ask for several gallons change in a shorter time span(runs at higher speed). I do not suggest putting it
close to where people usually are.

Do you change small amounts daily or larger amounts weekly/bimonthly using the DOS?

I think it can do both right?

Also do you use some type of check valve for the water line that is taking out the old water?

Yes to all. Use 1/4" RO line with it, and I highly suggest doing the john guest push fitting mod to the heads. No need for a check valve, the heads themselves have to rotate for liquid to move, if they're functioning correctly.

Thanks will search the forms on how to do the mod to the heads. My days of carrying 5 gallon containers are becoming very numbered!

I have mine set to do about 15% weekly. What I was doing before but you can set it up for small daily amounts or one time large amounts. The apex tasks walk you over both options

Okay so two ways to do it, use teflon thread tape or pipe sealant for both methods on the threads on the DOS head.

Option 1) Insert the RO tubing on the fitting, then twist the fitting onto the DOS head till it's snug, but not all the way down. If you turn it all the way down on a base DOS head the compression cone area will push the RO tubing out past the rubber O ring that seals it.

Option 2) Slight modification to the DOS head. You basically cut off the compression cone part of the head but leave the threads. Obviously once you do this you can't go back without replacing the head, so I will warn in that regard. In my personal experience, I've done it with all my DOS and suffer no leaks. If it's good enough for the DDR (the quick push connect fitting), it's good enough for everything else.
