The Neptune Dos has been out now for sometime for users to give a good review on it. Anyone care to comment on their experience with this dosing unit up till this point? I am currently setting back up my tank and am looking for a doser unit. The Neptune DOS only is at the top of the list due to PacSun not having any more units in Black for another 3 weeks and because the ability to reverse dosing direction which comes in handy with my futuer project of auto frozen food feeding. Thanks for the replies in advance!

I used one for about 18 months to do an automatic water change. It's really easy to set up and program exact amounts through the fusion app. It worked flawlessly that whole time. Honestly my only complaint is that it's loud. I'm not sure if that is true at the slower dosing speeds. if noise isn't an issue it's great and I would likely use them over a couple brs dosers.

+1 to sinekal. It gets loud at high speeds, but lower speeds it is quiet enough. Just need to calibrate it once a month or it will definitely get off. Not tough to calibrate at all and Neptune provides the equipment. I'd pull the trigger on the DOS if I were you, it's worth it. It can be used for anything you want it to.

For context I replaced the DOS with a nicer peristaltic pump for water changes, but I'm keeping it even though I don't have an immediate use. It's well built, reasonably priced, and generally very useful!

Thanks! Do you two use it with the new controller or the Legacy controllers?

Legacy controllers. Works amazingly well, can be programmed to do anything. I have one doing auto W/C's, with some VO's that check salinity levels and dose fresh RODI or fresh saltwater while pulling out the same amount to keep salinity at 35. I've tested and tested with refrac to make sure it's on point and it is. I also use another to dose alk and calc, keeps my levels perfectly stable (although I wish the alk probe from Apex would come out soon so I can dose based on that). There are multiple VO's programmed that turn the DOS's on or off, adding the needed parameter that has shifted, and it works perfectly. Learned from experience to calibrate once a month. HAVE to do that or it will get off on dosing amounts, but other than calibrating, it's literally able to keep your tank fully in line.

I'm also using the legacy controller, and do all my programming through fusion. I was lucky that my DOS was calibrated when I first set it up, and I change such a small % any drift didn't affect me.

Ok thanks for the input. I have decided to make the purchase.

Congrats man! If you haven't already, go to the Apex forum and sign up. There is all kinds of great info there, esp. on the DOS forum
