Neptune Dos Head Replacement

I contacted Neptune customer support and asked if replacement stepper motors can be purchased, and if the user can replace it themselves. I will update when I get a response.

That would be good to know. I'm nowhere close to 5000 hours on my AWC DOS, but never hurts to be prepared.

The stepper motors in the DOS are not user serviceable/replaceable. They have an MTB (mean time before failure) of 5000 hours. From personal experience and our testing they typically run much longer. If you are having issues with your DOS, then please contact our support team, https://neptunesystems.com/gethelp or give us a call at 408.275.2205.

As mentioned above by other helpful users, when to replace the DOS replacement heads really depends on how they are being used. If they are running AWC at a high rate of flow (i.e 250 ml/min), then you can expect to replace them more frequently than someone who is running them for additive dosing and at 7ml/min. The method of checking the calibration every 6 months or so, or doing a visual inspection helps to determine "when" you should replace them.

Thank you paul, very helpful

Heard back from my request from Tech. Support. They said they do not sell the motors to the public, but offer repairs, including motor replacement, for the life of the module. And only for the cost of the parts. That's pretty cool.

I have contacted Neptune a few times in the past. I have to say they have always responded very quickly. Customer support seems very good.

Depends what you mean by replacing the heads. Different parts wear differently. The peri tubing will be the first thing to go, but you can just replace it without buying an entire head replacement if you’re even moderately handy. I replace mine annually. Second thing to go would be the roller mechanism. This can be replaced separately. My DOS (used for AWS) has been running for about 18 months and there’s no sign that the roller heads have worn out yet, though I have replacements in hand. Hard to see why the head shell would ever need replacing.
Thanks good to know, I just did my calibration. It seems like both heads doing fine.

5000hrs when it actually used right? not 5000 hrs since installed
(5000 hrs is 6 months)

Yes, 5000 hours of operating time. Which is why Terrance said in his video that if you use it to do auto water changes with opposed to doing, it will shorten it's life span. As the stepper motor will be running more frequently.
