I see a lot of these pumps for sale. I was thinking about getting one, but if there is something better out there id rather get that. Eventually, I would like to add a controller to my tank as I travel a lot and want to monitor and automate some of the processes.

Maybe Im wrong..but for the DOS, i thought you needed the physical apex system to run it. As such, unless you are ready to dish out some dollars for the apex i would avoid. Now the next question I have for you is what volume are you planning on pushing through. BRS has a couple of pumps that pump out a set volume per minute which you can control either through a smart outlet or a simple timer outlet.

I have used the kamoer fx stp. I put it on a rate flow that I can adjust then have this plugged into a timer outlet (right now, the timer is through apex..but easy enough to put it on a smart plug). I honestly think this is a great half way there solution. Granted your controller and your dosing rate will be separate apps or processes, but it saves you from having to buy an apex to get them all in together.

Alternatively, I also have the Kamoer X1s. No integration with a controller but for 60 bucks, they are a pretty good item. I use it to dose nitrates and phosphates. Been rock solid for over a year.
