I have an EB832 that I got back in 2017. I used it on my freshwater tank until 2020 and it’s sat unused from then until now when I’ve set up my reef tank.

it’s slowly stopped working over the last few months. The outlets no longer switch on and off. The lights work but there is no more “thunk thunk” sound and it doesn’t become energized. It started with intermittent switching but now the outlets seem dead.

i know it’s well outside of warranty but none of the switches have been used more than a few thousands times and I was kinda hoping it would last longer based on what I paid.

anything I can do or is it just toast? If I swap it out for a new one will I need to reprogram everything? I assume it will just make all new outlets so I’ll have to switch everything over?

This is the most well known EB832 problem - 12v PSU issue due to very low quality parts inside.

Here's my article on the subject:

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I’ll look over it and see if I can do it myself. Glad it’s potentially an easy fix.
