Neptune optical sensor wire extension?

The optical sensor wires are not long enough to reach my FMM, is there a way I can extend it?
I've thought about buying one of those headphone jack extension cords but I'm not sure if they would be suitable?
I was thinking as long as the band count is the same its fine, but just wanted to confirm.

Was looking at
specifically, it seems to have 4 poles, the same number as the optical sensor ones?

I believe it's just TS (tip/sleeve) or mono, but either should work.
