Neptune PMUP as salt mixing pump?

Really? I couldn't find any documentation on the subject.

"The PMUP is a multi-purpose pump that can be used for many different tasks on your aquarium." Submersible and 24VDC powered (you just need a 1Link port to run it on your Apex). Output is 100Gph, so if you need more this wouldn't work.

The user manual states this: "CAUTION: The PMUP is intended for use in relatively clean water. It must not be used in an area where sand or other debris could be drawn into the PMUP. If sand or other hard debris enters the pump, it may fail"
Sounds like it would be a bad idea to use it for mixing salt.

I’m not sure if salt (which dissolves) qualifies as “sand or other debris”. I think they’re really talking about substrate. They do indicate saltwater and freshwater uses, but your best bet is to drop Neptune a line directly.

From Neptune Support:
"It can certainly be used to mix saltwater, but If it will not be running 24/7, I would recommend taking the pump out and rinsing it in RO water when it is not going to be used."
