Can I plug the Neptune Wav powerheads into the Dos one link ports and control them or do they have to be plugged into one link module or Eb832?

I don't have the wav powerheads but I'm almost positive you cannot plug it into the 1link on the dos. It is only for connecting the dos to the system.

Wonder why they even put those on the Dos then because you can’t even daisy chain the dos with those ports

It's to connect the dose to the eb832 or 1link module, instead of using a aquabus and power supply. That way you can do it either way.

So I guess I will need a 1 link module if I decide to go with the Wav then. Gotcha
Correct unless you have a spare 1 link port on your energy bar. I did look this up on Neptune's forum to verify what I told you was correct and it was the Dos 1 link port can't have other devices plugged into it.

Yeah there lots are always a little cheaper but I may have to do that. Can’t justify the amount for 2 Mp40 as much as I love my Mp10’s. The indecision sucks may have to sell the 10’s to offset the cost a little bit

Have used the wavs before. The reviews I've seen on them are mixed. I'm considering adding some of them to my tank.

I have four wav’s but have only used this far for leak checks. The two on my left hand side of tank are two far from one of eb832s so I got the 1-link. The other two wav’s connected to my eb832. I have to pick up two dos’s. But prefer not to have more eagerly bricks. It can be subbed out with a 1link cable correct?

Yes the dos can beither plugged in with a 1 link cable or aquabus and power adapter. But if using the 1 link you have to plug it into a 1link module or eb832, you just can't plug another device into the 1 link port on a dos.

I have mine plugged into one of my DOS. Currently running 2 WAVs and love them! I use one DOS set up for AWC which requires a power source. I’d have to double check, but you can power the DOS individually which is what would allow you to then power the WAV via 1link cable. If your DOS is only connected to energy bar and not directly to a power source it cannot power other devices.

From what I've read you can't power a WAV pump from the 1 link on the DOS, but I've never tried it to know for sure. I do know who will know for sure though. @SuncrestReef could you answer whether or not other devices can be powered from the 1 link port on the DOS if the DOS is getting power from a power adapter.

The 1Link connector on the DOS is only for the DOS to receive power & communications, not to deliver it to another module. You can choose to connect the DOS using either a 1Link cable, or a combination of AquaBus plus external 24v power adapter. The 6-pin connector is dedicated to connect the optional DDR container.

However, if you connect your DOS using the 1Link cable, you are allowed to use the AquaBus ports on the DOS to connect to other modules, such as a PM1, FMM, etc.

The WAV can only be connected to a 1Link module, EB832, or EB632 using the 1Link cable.

See my Apex Hardware Overview article for more details on all the available modules:
