Neptune WAV users

Gyre 130 and an mp10. They were good but I like being able to have the control like mp's but able to direct the flow.

I have them and love them. I had two MP10's in my previous tank, but could not transfer them to the new one because of the 5/8" glass. I love the "FLO" calculation that Neptune incorporates into the Apex dash. It's real handy because turning down the WAV 50% does not decrease "FLO" by 50%. So it's nice seeing what the calculated flow is at each percentage... because it's not what I thought it would of been. The max flow out of two of these is pretty crazy.

Ive been tweaking the setting for the last couple months. Settled on Mavericks varying intensity throughout the day. Mostly inverse but have them clash 10 minutes every hour. Also have a 25 second 100% pulse on each for an hour to help clean up the left over detritus. During peak photoperiod I run both at 100% constant for 30 minutes to generate some serious chaos, again picking up any detritus. In my 4' tank I max at 85% and go as low as 60% during the night. The FLO average is 6.

Sure. For a control freak these cant be beat. I tried them on the back wall and end to end pointed towards each other. I like this config best, one front and one back pointed slightly down towards each island where they crash together when not in inverse mode.

I used the gyres oppoosite ends for a few months which worked great too but I prefer the WAV.

I won the starter set and have been using it on my 45 frag tank - awesome product but wayyyy too powerful for my frag tank. I don't go over 5% ever. When I do water hits the floor.

Hopefully current owners will post the good and bad about these. I'm getting ready to buy a controller for the gyre 150 I currently have, and can't decide if I'd be better off with another gyre/controller, or a set of these to compliment the MP40 and MP60 I currently have ( for a 300 DD)
In the end, it'll probably be decided by who has what (if any) best deal through the holidays.

Any recent reviews? I am considering this as well.

Curios if these are way too much flow on a 65 gallon 36x24x18

Maybe... it depends on what you are keeping, what flow types you prefer to use and how you have them placed in the tank. I have a 60"x22"x18" mixed reef and have to have them pretty low... around 20% max on Mavericks(Reef Crest). However, I can get up to about 40% if I do pulsed... which is what I have it at 100% of the time. I'm currently at 20% on pulsed and everything is stoked. I also have a lot of return flow though... which adds to it. Here's a video from a few weeks ago on somewhere between 20-30% pulsed.

I recently replaced my Gyre XF150 for a pair of WAV pumps. This is mostly because Im going from a pennisula style tank to a standard tank. While I love the Gyre, I really like the Apex stuff and some of the features inherent to the Neptune brand. Figure if Im going to have my tank controlled by the Apex, why fight it?

I have a 6' tank now that these are placed on opposite ends, and the highest I can turn them up is 45% before they start picking up sand and tossing it all over. Still, the flow on these guys is amazing, and you can watch the FLO chart over time to see when you are seeing the effects of a dirty pump and lessened flow due to that. Even with a bit of cord in the tank, I still really like these pumps. I cant imagine having more than one in a 65 gallon though.
