Neptune's Auto Top Off Kit

You can use a breakout box and float switches controlled by the apex as an ato. I've had mine setup for years never had a problem.

That’s kinda why I recommended the Avast ATO if you want Apex integration. It uses a pressure tube / switch which never really needs to be cleaned and is safe to use with Kalkwasser. It’s unfortunate that Neptune uses such poor quality, maintenance hungry optical eyes for both their ATK and DDR. My Tunze 3155 ran for years before I performed a preventative cleaning on it just cuz... it never skipped a beat.

I have both the Tunze 3155 and the ATK on two separate tanks in my house. My ATK float switch fails daily while the 3155 has not failed yet.

I will say, the ATK does fail in the off position so its not causing any harm just annoyance. The coding and set up is a breeze and the additional leak sensor ports have been a gerat piece of mind.

That being said, one of the optical sensors was broke out of the box Neptune replaced it no questions asked which was great. The actual sensors and hardware have worked flawless for me excluding the mechanical float valve.

Anytime I feed, when the return pump is shut off and a couple gallons drains into my sump the float valve sticks closed. This requires me to tap int open again after every feeding or shutting down of the main return pump. Annoying as can be, but again redundancy is great and has never failed excluding a mechanical float valve I could remove.

Since owning one of each, and just setting up a nicer coral QT tank I chose the Tunze 3155.

I had a Tunze and bought an ATK when they came out. The only advantage the ATK has over the Tunze is that it integrates better with an Apex. Beyond that - the optical sensors are unreliable. The only time my Tunze optical sensor ever had a problem was one time when I was quite dirty (my fault.) The Neptune optical sensors routinely give false readings about every month or two, even when they are totally clean. The only solution is to unplug them and plug them back in.

The PMUP pumps have been problematic and less than reliable, too.
