they dont like reef tanks. just saying that beause i just picked up 6 from on the floor..... looks like ill be buying turbos and margaritas !

Yeah my nerites commit suicide all the time... I am down to maybe 1 from 30 or so. They crawl up under the lamps and fry themselves before they can get out of my tank.

If I'm not mistaken margaritas are cold water snails. They will slowly die in a warm reef tank.

Nerites are inner tidal species and can be out of water for long periods of time, if they are on the floor just put them back in the tank, they are still alive. If it has been weeks then smell them first, if they smell like death then they are probably dead. I find mine all dried up on the floor all the time, I set them on a rock and they crawl away within a minute or so.

Yea you might be right..... I need to find some kind that will live in my tank. I hate the LRG turbos. There to much like dozers. Need to find somthing small that will Eat and clean my rocks....

Yea there all fine im just not wanting to buy any more of the nerites...

There are more then one type of nerite. Some will climb out, not a problem if you have a top. The smaller ones with the more colorful shells will stay in, the larger ones with the black/grey shells will climb. Before I put the mesh top on I would find mine in other rooms of my house, sometimes up to 10 feet away. I would just give them a dip in water and place them on my overflow and they would be gone in a few min.

i have the same problem recently .. but came to know

they carry some water with them so they get all adventurous about leaving the tank .. they should settle in when they come to know of their boundaries ..

Fighting Conchs are very cool, but they stay in the sand. Nassarius are very good. There are the regular ones and fancy ones. Cerinths stay small and do a good job.

I had the luckiest nerite snail ever. I almost never look behind the tank/stand, but one night I did and saw a snail. I figured it was dead, it was completely dry and its protective cover was weird. But I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and held him in the tank and he started coming out! He was alive!
