Nero 3 or 5 for reefer 170?

Probably the Nero 3, but I know both models are hard to find right now.

the 3 should be enough (i actually use two 3's in my 40B). but if you're only using 1 wavemaker, go for the 5.

I have 2x 3's in my 24 gallon at 100% right now. If you are doing SPS - get the 5's to be safe. You can always turn them down.

seems more like a “batch” issue.. i’ve had one nero 3 for over a year now with 0 issues. the second i’ve had for over 6 months also with 0 issues

I'd do a pair of 3's then just so you can get a bit of turbulent water.

Mine have been fine as well - they will stop on occasion because a limpet wedges itself in the prop. Other than that and a bit of noise as they get dirty, no issues here!

I can't speak for everyone, but mine has been excellent (zero issues) for nearly a year. AI's customer service is generally very good which is part of the reason the prices are what they are. They stand behind their products.

So I’ve had the Nero 5 for the better part of 8 months. Without question you should buy the “5”. The AI app allows you to decrease the flow. Mine has always been at 70%. With any luck you’ll have a larger tank next year and you’ll be wishing you had the 5!!! Either way great product!

I can pick up a 5 used for 200 bucks. But don't want to have over amount of flow when the lowest setting is still to much. I have a gyre in there right now on 10%

buy a used 5. you can use the AI app to lower the % to a tolerable level
