I wanted to ask a question about the Nero 3 wave maker. I’ve heard some horror stories of people losing their fish to their wave makers and this is my first time buying an AI branded wavemaker. Does anyone have any positive/negative experiences with this wavemaker with regard to their fish? Any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Was just debating the same thing, lol. I read the Nero now comes with a fish guard and decided to just order one based on all the positive reviews. Should be here today and I can double check to make sure the guard is in the box.

Nero 5 was the fish killer. But they all ship with the guards now. I will say that cerith snails can make it into the prop still.

I heard quite a bit about the Nero 5 being dangerous to fish which was quite alarming. I’ll ask my LFS if his Nero 3’s have the guard. Thanks berry79, it’d be great to know your experience with the Nero once you’ve unboxed it!

I’ll definitely post back once it arrives. The one I ordered is the Nero 3

both come with guards. Also add that only "weaker" swimmers were subject to the 5's wrath
I do love my weak swimmers like Hawks so I’ll definitely be careful with what wavemaker I buy. Do you have any experience with the Red Sea Wavemaker?

My Nero 3 arrived today. Came with the fish guard and seems really well made.
Seems Ok made.. the plastic feels a lil weak and if you twist it open the locking mech is questionable at best. I got mine yesterday and am so far very impressed overall. Does yours become audible once you hit about 58 percent.

I can start to hear around 70ish. Maybe if I put my ear closer I could here it sooner. I have only been running at around 40% as it’s stirred up some sand in the beginning. My tank is new though, so going to take some time for everything to settle. App scheduling is really nice. My last tank was many years ago and we didn’t have any of these fancy features. Pretty crazy how things have changed
