Would 2 Nero 5s be too powerful for a 40 Breeder? I could put 2 Nero 3s in it, but I want to plan for any upgrades I might do down the road so I would prefer to do 2 Nero 5s. Would these be too powerful for a 40? Could I get away with just 1 Nero 5?

I have 2 nero 5's in a 65; basically a tall 40 breeder. I have one on the side and one on the back. The one on the side is at 85% max 35% min random pattern with med variance. The one on the back is 45% max 25% min random with medium variance. this allows them to just barely not create a sand storm so I would probably run them a little lower in a 40.

I have one Nero 5 in a 40B that is LPS dominant and it’s more than enough to get the whole tank swaying. You will probably get better coverage with two, but not 100% necessary unless you are going with wall to wall sps.

If it was me, I would consider getting the pair of 5’s since a tank size upgrade is in your plans. You can keep them at low settings until you upgrade. Alternately, you can get one for now and buy a second one when you upgrade. That’s what I am doing.
