Nero 5 vs Icecap Gyre 2K

I have a Nero 3 and think it's as good as my MP10. It's fairly easy to get the same top flow effect as a gyre but obviously not as wide. Never used a gyre but it seems to me they have alot of maintenance and based on the number of spare parts available they may not be as rugged as a Nero 5.

What size tank and type of corals will you be keeping?
I have a 75G right now with 2 Ice Cap 2Ks and I don't really feel satisified with them... Thinking of buying a Nero 5 today and testing that out

Right now I only have a few corals.. mainly LPS and 2 SPS.

Dude!!!! So I ran my Ice Cap on my regular 5GHZ wifi.. b/c who tf uses 2.4ghz default when every router now a days is 5GHZ compatiable.. after about a month they completely stopped working... 1 did at first i Couldnt get it to connect for almost a month... then the other stopped. I had to play with my dang wifi settings, i had to figure out how to completely re-install both pumps which took over 2 hours b/c the app is not user friendly at all.... this was a HUGE inconvenience.

I've got a pair of the 2Ks on a Waterbox Frag 105.4. I was in the same boat and wasn't really that happy with them. After a year and a half and constant tweaking I added the HydrosEngine I'm really happy with them now. The Engine gives you a little more control and more flow patterns than the dual controller. I got the Engine because I added a 3rd for flow behind the rocks.

I think it is the most common thing that smart devices are not 5GHZ compatible. There are practical reasons for it and it is not really the price where speed is not important but stable connectivity is the goal.
in fact none of my smart switches or dosers are and have not found a single one were at the time I have equipped my home and I think as long the 2.4 is commonly available none of the manufacturers will go for it.

Aghh.. now the question is do I wanna spend another $400 for the WavesEngine when I'm only running two 2Ks?

Are these the functions you're talking about? Or is there more options? B/c my Ice Caps currently have these settings already

When I first got my 2Ks I contacted CoralVue because I couldn't see my 5ghz. They said it only worked on 2.4ghz.

I plugged mine in.. connected to my Wifi which was the default 5GHZ and it worked fine... Now I have a seperate 2.4GHZ connection for em and they're okay.. but now my wifi is slow as hell b/c its running a 5ghz and 2.4ghz

I don’t think you would realise the difference unless you copy large amounts of data on local network. It is certainly faster than your internet as it supports 450Mbps on 2.4 GHz on a decent router.
