Hey reefers trying to see what’s a good wave pump looking at the Nero 5 wanted to get some feedback on what people think about them or what’s a good wave pump

I like my Nero 5 paired with my Nero 3. I have them set as parent/child at 90 degrees if I remember correctly. This creates a nice type of flow that really fills the tank nicely and doesn’t leave blind spots.

I got the idea from a BRS video.

I enjoy mine, tank does too. Good wide
Flow. Pulse mode 80% parent child chase

I have tried both the nero and the mp40.... I like the MP40 much better,,,,2 of my neros already broke down... :(

I found the Nero 5 to have connection issues more often than I would expect for the price. I found the magnet to be quite weak as well. In my opinion, Jebao is better and for a lot less money.

I have four, love them. Going on Four years and no issues.

The problem I have with MPs- Can you really justify 400+ for ONE power head?

I had a Nero 5 on an old set up for several years and never had any issues with it. Great flow and spread, however if you have small fish, the back of the pump is a little spooky so you may want to invest in some kind of guard. I’m trying an mp10 right now and like it as well. Both are good.

I went back and forth and just ordered the Nero 5's for a 60 breeder. Personally I couldn't justify the price difference for a pump where there are so many various documented issues - wet sides dying, dry sides dying, wet sides falling off, parts rusting, bearings needing replacement, etc. Look and you will find people who love them both, and hate them both. For me the Nero does what I need, at a price I didn't mind. The argument will arise about cords in the tank, but for me anyways, I don't mind that versus the soda can sticking off the sides of my tank where my kids will mess with them.
