So I just had my second Nero 3 go out. This is two within a month and neither were more than 3 months old. Just stopped wanting to spin. Everything in the app checks out. Anyone else have issues with these stopping?

I went through a bunch and ended up switching to octopulses 2.

Great warranty but I cannot deal with the constant RMA. Anecdotal but my friend has great luck with the nero 5 where I just burned through nero 3

Have you taken out and deep cleaned Nero 3 propellers? That works for me because Nero 3 is really "Tight Fit". Small amount of stockpiled debris (even slime) may easily prevent it's proper operation. Nero 3 is very sensitive in this regards.

Yep. I have both. 3's and 5's. The 3's randomly stalled at startup. The 5's run just fine

yes, they were cleaned regularly.

I only have them randomly stop courtesy of snails - but I'm sending a 3 back now because it just never put out the power of the other one. I thought it was because they were linked so I removed the link and it fixed nothing. Really hopeful that it's a one off situation with this one. The other one works great and is the older of the two. No problem with cs whatsoever

I love everything about the nero's except that they dont seem to last very long for me either. I switched to gyres (for other reasons as well) and have ran an icecap gyre uncleaned untouched without issue for a long long time. IME the nero's were not worth the premium price if they dont last a couple years each at least

For some reason dwarf ceriths in my tank love climbing into my nero 3 and jamming it up. Easy enough to pop open and clean out, but it's happened like 7 times in the last month.

Thank you all for the input. I kind of spaced this thread, but as an update, I did finally get an error on this second one that failed which was a motor issue. It seems it was legitimate. We will see how these two replacement units last. Fingers crossed

My 2nd nero 3 is going out soon, i can hear it, and it already stopped once, where I had to restart it.

I dont think i will buy this AI brand powerhead again. I saw the octopulse and those things are a flow monsters.

I've just given up on Nero's. Two failures in the last year, both less than 2 years old.
$500 pumps.

If an auto water pump failed in less than two years people would go nuts.

I've just received today a couple of Jaebo's to replace them. Those things last forever, and even if they blow they're only <$70

I just had one of my two replaced a month or two ago. It was a tad over warranty, but I explained to them I had emailed regarding the issue when it was still under warranty but was ultimately able to get it working without having to send it in, but now could not. They sent me a brand new replacement device, which I was appreciative of.

Now my second one I find locked up and not spinning. After a 2 hour Muriatic acid soak, still nothing. It will start to spin for 2-3 seconds and stop. It's of course just over the one year warranty and frankly I don't even want to waste my time emailing them and sending it back. I clean the pumps with citric or muriatic acid every 90 days, but I'm really not impressed by these pumps.

I think I'm done with the Neros. A 100% (2/2) failure rate at around 13 & 14 months respectively isn't very impressive. I think I will look into another MP40, Tunze or Jebao as you hear of much lower rates of failure with them and mine all work flawlessly.

I’m definitely done with Nero too but i hate to go buy new right now as they keep up with warranty and service is good but I have had my first Nero replaced once and my second Nero replaced twice. Now I am trying to get the first replaced again because as soon as I added the new one to the app, the other quit spinning. No errors, just not going. So bought two pumps and have ended up with 6 and still trying to get two to work at the same time for more than a week
