Is using this pretty easy? I currently run 2 part with a dosing pump for my SPS tank. Should I be nervous? Am I just being a chicken?!

Thanks!!

I think you should just focus on determining what the difference is between each brand so when you make the switch the transition is seamless and you don't have your numbers going out of normal boundaries.

I would appreciate some insight as I'm thinking of making the switch toooo!

How stable is your big 3 parameters - Ca, Mg and Alk ? If so, going 1,2,3 route will help.

I find it wayy better for the money to stick to dry KH , Ca , Mg and Component strong A,B,C,K and mix them ourselves ..
Moreover, if your condition is like mine where I have a new system and my Alk consumption is wayy higher and my Ca is already 480 and Mg 1450, you can mix dry KH only and feed it to stabilize the balance .

@Perry or @Anirban knows wayy more than I do as I have only been dry powder for 2 months.

Abhishek

Its actually very simple....its full balling. So you start with adding each of the components in equal amount to your tank and keep checking if it maintains your desired levels or not. If yes then continue if no then try varying the doses.
By the way how big is your tank?

Do you always keep the dosing the same on all 3 or do you adjust and that is the end goal?

I think the suggestion is all 3 dosed equally, but you should only dose what your system consumes and needs to be stable. :)

What I will suggest is first bring up your Ca and Mg to your desired level by separately dosing Ca and Mg. Then start dosing component all of them equal. This should hold desired level. But if needed you can vary dosing unequally.

I got my calc, alk and Mag to where i want it by dosing each at different levels till i hit my target numbers than i didnt dose for a day or two and let levels drop. Measured and then dosed equally up to get to my levels again. I got a 65g tank and im dosing 15ml of each in a lightly stocked tank thats been up and running for 5-6 months

Hello,
This is great information, and correct, these liquids are designed to work in equal parts, this should be done through absorption of alk to determine set point. With the DIY Comp 123, you could tweak the recipe by adding more or less of a KH, MG, or CA to dial you in, however, at some point the system will balance, and when it does, the original recipe will be spot on, this process just takes awhile. As suggested above, I would align parameters to spec before going online with dosing.

I dose the pre mixed Comp123. This is the easiest, most forgiving program I have used. I dose based off my Alk consumption but all three in equal amounts. I try to build my life and my tank off the keep it simple philosophy. Besides the Carbon and bacteria, I do not dose any of the other products. The numbers are balanced and the corals look good. For me, there is no need to complicate the program when it is working as is.
