I have so many question crowding my brain, but I guess my main issue is picking a controller that's compatible with the equipment I've already purchased. All Current USA gear (led, wave pump, return pump). I'm not so much concerned about controlling the wave pumps and the lights but more so the return pump. The Apex is looking really good to me but I'm not sure about how to configure it to control the pump.

Thanks for any insight!

Welcome to R2R! We have a couple of controller guru's here that can help @rkpetersen and @DarthSimon may know the answer :)

I guess I could share more about myself and my setup. I am totally new to fish keeping, I've had bearded dragons as pets but that's it. So the name "NervousReefer fits pretty well, lol. I have a 50 gal acrylic tank and a Proclear 4 in 1 sump with an Eshopps Overflow (herbie method), I've already plumbed my drain lines and had to wait for some more parts to finish return lines. I guess the only thing I'm really nervous about is this box of water in my living room. I want to do as much as I can to prevent water leaking all over the place.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

That's one of my biggest concerns as well!
An Apex system can be very helpful here.
It can be configured with leak detectors that can shut off pumps and/or notify you with a siren, text or email when a leak is detected.
I put leak detectors under the cabinet all around, and also attached to the outer surfaces of the sump.
Got woken at 3 AM by a small plumbing leak a few weeks ago; would have gone undetected a lot longer without the sensors.

Regarding your Current USA return pump and Apex.
You can program it to turn on and off for maintenance and feeding.
If the controller for the pump has a 0-10V input, you can also program variable speeds.
From what I can see, it doesn't have that last feature, but I may not have been looking at the latest models.
