I am wondering if anyone is aware of a neutrally buoyant pellet food? My fish seem to only be briefly interested in pellets while they are in the water column. When they hit the sand, they are forgotten. Ideally a pellet that will just float around in the water column indefinitely without having to create a sand storm in the process.

I have tried Omega One marine pellets, New Life Spectrum marine fish formula, and Ocean Nutrition Formula Two small and medium. All of them sink.

The closest I have come upon to this would be the slow sinking 1.4mm pellets from Sustainable Aquatics. They do get eaten very quickly in my tank though.

Since everyone keeps tanks at different salinitys it would be difficult to make pellets that are meant to be neutrally buoyant.
My understanding is 1.026 is about as high as most folks go. I have tried all of the above in 1.026 and all sink much faster than I would like, which means they would also sink in any lower sg. If there was a pellet that was neutral at 1.026, that would be good enough for most common salinities below that with just a small amount of flow!

Do you have a link too this food? I cannot seem to find a 1.4mm pellet from them.

As a side note: I have seen where the food is made (they use the same stand mixers like the one I have :) ) They really do make this in house.

I have gotten to where I want to forge relationships with vendors I buy from and will start visiting facilities instead of just blindly trusting them when I open the LFS.
