What is expected at these events? Are corals cheaper? Anything else that is worth the drive?

From my experience they have lower prices as well as lots of raffles and free gift bags with samples from various vendors. You can often bargain to get good deals towards the end as vendors are willing to part with frags cheaper rather then have to pack them all up and transport them home.

Occasionally they will have speakers that give lectures on various reefing topics. You can pick up on some pretty good tips.

It's also a really cool experience to hang out with lots of reefers all in one place.
In addition to everything I mentioned above, I find that the participating vendors bring their best of the best corals. It's all about making a good first impression because they're trying to network, get their brand name out there, and build their clientele.

The vibe is super happy and fun!

Ps my fiancé never understood reefing or Corals until her first frag swap. It was a pretty big one with a hundred or so vendors. Seeing all the amazing Corals in one place blew her mind and now she has her own tank full of her favorite types of Corals.

Not necessarily cheaper, but depending on the venue, there may be many vendors with many different corals to view. It’s a fun experience, or at least the first time should be, unless you go wild and have buyers remorse afterwards.
