Never have I been soo depressed!

I thought 10 months ago when I had to say good by to this hobby and my 2 tanks was the most depressing day/month of my life.

It's been on my mind all summer...... and Ive been fighting the urge to not log on........ I succumbed to the urge today to fumble around here and see what's hot and if there were any familiar friends/names around.

Remembering all the beautiful specimens I owned and lost or sold. Just makes me ill, its so depressing to think of what once was.

Now I know for sure I MUST HAVE A TANK IN THIS HOUSE AGAIN ASAP.!!!!!!

Still have my old 15 breeder in the basement, what LED should I buy/make for this baby! I plan to keep acans, rics and z and p's only with just two clowns only for fish.

This is gonna be the exact opposite of my last tank..... very low tech. No controllers, no skimmer, no ATO's, no alc and calc dosers. Just water, light, heat, food and TLC!!

I am very capable of a DIY, just need a blueprint and nudge in the right direction as to what to buy, HELP me out guys and gals!!! (Been out of the loop a while!) And I know I can count on some of the best reefers around, and that's why Im here on Reef 2 Reef.

Sorry to hear you had to take a "leave of absence" - I'm sure there was a reason. But, jumping back in is awesome!
My husband and I believe in the simpler-the-better approach to this hobby. We currently run with an algae scrubber, lights, and air. 
We have torch corals, ricordias, favia, acans, montipora, toadstool, a chalce, p's and z's, and a hairy mushroom that just split into 6! Very healthy tank that is actually getting a but tight due to such fast growth.

If I remember correctly it is 24x12x12

Thinking of something sleek and thin, either hanging from ceiling or from a made stand to hang up and over tank. Always loved the " mad scientist" look of an open top tank! Check out my old tank threads to get an idea of my tastes. I'm sure there around here somewhere..... I hope LOL

I would do 24 crees on a dimmable driver, that's what I have over my frag tank that's 24x16x8 and they are only turned up about half way. They are working great for me.

I agree with gar732 but would say to use two dimmable drivers so you can control the Blue LEDs and White LEDs separately so you can really dial in the lighting.

Hey Rob! Good to see you back. I recommend you consider going dimmable T5 with led supps. That seems to produce the best results imo.

Glad to hear your getting back in the hobby. I experienced something similar over a year ago. I lost everything and at that point I decided it was time to take a break. After taking more than a year off I decided to start with a small tank to get back in the swing of things. Good luck with your build.
