Some nems like to close up when they catch something to eat. basically what you're not seeing is that they're opening up their mouth as wide as possible and st the same time using their tissue to push the food into their mouth.

mine does the same but leaves some tentacles hanging out, this happens multiple times a week I think of it as pouting but as @Katrina61 and @philosophile said it could be when it eats something however when I have fed mine parts of a sardine it hasn't closed up it just passed it between tentacles and nibbled on it

Also a huge magnifica we have at my LFS caught a small fish (we put a dying Molly in the same tank I believe) and it just held it in its tentacles for a day or so before eating it but I doubt that guy could even close it it wanted to, its about the size of a bowling ball or two though reply if you want me to send the photo I have of it

Yeah it usually leaves tentacles out but as long as that’s it then I am glad that all my fish are still swimming around.

thats good, I think they can only catch injured fish or (I've never heard of this in a tank) clownfish luring a fish into the anemone before the anemone takes out the fish (I read this somewhere)

thanks and don't get stung by a magnifica it left blisters and it is still healing after several weeks
