Found this in the sump tonight. Believe it or not, I've never seen it before, and certainly didn't purchase it. Some type of Arrow Crab is my guess, so I left it in there; but, I don't see any "pinchers" on it.

Just love this part of the hobby...finding new creatures that seem to come from no where!!!

I would literally die if I saw a spider like in my sump.

Nah...you wouldn't die, you just apparently wouldn't want to touch it...lol. It's actually pretty cool looking.

Definitely don't touch that one! Good thing you noticed it.

Definitely looks like a Spider to me too. Where do you live? Arrow Crabs have 6 legs and 2 arms with pinchers.

After a little more looking, I agree it was a spider that found its way to my sump. I'm in Florida so we have bugs of all sorts. We actually have an exterminator come every other month and I haven't seen a spider in our house in years.

Thank goodness the misses has already retired for the evening. We won't be sharing this with her...please!

I despise spiders. Especially wolf spiders since they're so big and creepy. So you're right I wouldn't touch it. I would run for the hills. (Which is pretty darn far because there are no hills around here.) I actually will never own an arrow crab because they look too much like a giant spider to me. Haha

We have a bunch of wolf spiders. You can shine a flash light in the yard at night and see the spider's eyes shining. Here is one on our deck, look closely at her back [emoji15]

But spiders aren't all bad, they take care of those annoying flies lol

When I lived in Hawaii my wife and I were watching TV in our bed one night and saw something move across the wall... it was a spider the size of my hand. I had to kill it, but was unsure if it would lift my hand full of toilet paper off of it and punch me in the face...

Also found this guy right next to me when I was building my stand for my 180 gallon.

What I found appears to be a Huntsman Spider - also known as a "Giant Crab Spider". So at least it was trying to live up to its namesake in my sump...lol.

Let's just hope it was flying solo because there's no way the bug guy is spraying anything near where this was found!!!

Our guy uses bait traps for the occasional ant problem because I won't let him spray. They always seem to work...three days later no ants.

You gotta love living in a tropical environment!
