Never opened leather

This leather has been in the tank for months and has never opened.
Why?
Nitrates have been as high as 60. Now 40.
The best range I've seen it at is between 25-35ppm
All parameters are in normal range except no3.

It still has color and is not turning brownish black so it’s alive. Means flow is too light or it doesn’t like your lighting.

It was at the bottom. Have recently moved out higher and into higher flow..
Here's a shot on bottom. No3 between 25-35. But this is best I've seen it

I cuncure. The best way to see flow is with bubbles. Put an air stone under ph this will blow bubbled around your tank. It may be getting too much flow
