I’m hoping someone here can ID this for me. I came down to check my tank(add ALK) tonight and saw this on the glass. It moves fairly quickly, when I turned the lights on it seems to want to make itself into a tight circle, it doesn’t swim, went from glass to sand to rock, and def doesn’t like light. I will post pics now(sorry for the dirty glass, been a busy few days around the house).

It was the first time I’ve seen it in over three years with the tank. It looked big, probably over 3 inches in length. It didn’t go after anything in the tank and I haven’t noticed anything strangely dying. I mean over the years I’ve had a acro frag Stn on me but nothing that jumps out. I sure wish I would have captured it. Looks like I know what I’ll be trying to catch every night.

I finally caught it last night! It killed and was eating a tiger sand conch. I was able to net it by pushing it against the glass and sliding it up & out. Finally, good riddance! BTW it def grew since last observed, prob a solid 5inches in length. Tough to get a solid length because it could make itself almost into a circle. Super strange creature just glad it’s out of my reef finally!

Isn't just a worm or snail or nudibranch, it's Benthic ctenophores

Have a read about they do have many different shapes and forms.

Another one

Interesting to read about, man SP here

too much for reading, but have some photos to compare on mid of the page

Mainly and long story short: they aren't bad, they aren't going to damage your corals, but they feed from the water current, like the vermetid snails. They can become invasive at some point, stay mainly over Soft corals. Mainly feeding from phytoplankton, and particles leaving all the creatures need to feed on that w/o food.
I took them off on time (got 2 and for week they become 6-7), because they reproduce as mad.

I think it's been eating the leftover food from the conch.
