Not too long ago I caught a flash of what appeared to be a white cloud of "something" spray out the anus of my Kole. Next day I noticed large white patches all over him. Next day his patches were gone and it had raw spots all over him and his fins were all but gone, by night time he was dead. He ate well up until the morning he died and appeared very uncomfortable. This morning my Blue Throat died the exact same way while I was getting my QT set up and pre-treating the water. Abt an hour ago I just saw my Lg Solon Wrasse "fart" out this large plume of white matter and Im really worried I may lose him too! I plan to treat in the QT with kaneplex and furon, but am also thinking I need to treat the fish in my DT as well. Antibacterial cavier as its all Ive seen that is reef safe. I have a fish trap in the tank now to try and get the Solon out but so far he isnt falling for it....neither did the Kole or Trigger for that matter.

My question I guess is what in the world kind of a disease is this? What is the white plume? Can fish get diarrhea lol! Im hoping someone has experience with this so I can make sure Im treating effectively.

Can you get a picture of the solon wrasse? Is he displaying the same patchiness or missing fins? Have you noticed any white stringy poo before the "farting" incident? Have any of these fish been bloated before the farting thing?

From just going by the poop description I'd say your fish have both an intestinal parasite and intestinal bacteria, basically robbing your fish of any nutrients there getting from the food your feeding them. As for the patches and torn fins, may be caused by rubbing trying to rid its self of external parasites. Pictures help, even if the fish is already dead, its better than nothing.

Sry this took so long to reply back! So far there have been no further symptoms. No bloating, hiding, loss of appetite, splotches, discoloration or fading. All fish look completely healthy.....I do realize that this could also just be the calm before the storm while the parasite/bacteria incubate. My antibacterial cavier still hasnt arrived so Ive been treating preventively with Mardels in the DT. Have my QT set up, but havent had much luck catching anyone yet....too many hiding places I guess...will post pics as soon as I can

This is gonna get gross but... the "white cloud" coming out of the fish's anus is more like a spray? Not a long white stringy poop?

Following along...

Tank size? List all inhabitants in case there is something you can attempt to treat with in the display. I might try to have prazi and or metro on hand. I have a lot of faith in metronidazole for some of the symptoms you list but I'd like more info and pics.

Is it too late for pics of the losses?
