NeveSSL's 180g Mixed Reef

Thanks, guys!

Brandon. A word of advice on those Skimmers. Even small water level changes impact them. Mine can change in 1/2 inch.

Yep... Doesn't matter too much right now since I don't have ATO, anyway. :) I will be tweaking it once I do, though.

Looks good. I like the scape, you can pack some nice stuff on top on those rocks..nice and flat

Thanks, Matt! I'm hoping to grow my display out and have colonies dedicated to fragging in the garage. I still need to tweak that left side a little, but I'm happy with the scape overall.

Well, the only thing that happened this week is my 24" T5 died and the silicone that was holding my egg crate in my PVC came loose. So now I've got to reengineer that, but I'm also going out of town for work tomorrow, so I probably won't get to it until next week. :)

Good idea, Lindsey. I will see how much a 4" to 3" will cost me... May be too expensive, but definitely worth a shot.

Picked up some new clowns this past week. Thanks to Rob D for holding them for me for a few days!

Also got my Apex back in and installed this morning. This weekend may be full of improvements and projects, or I may not get ANYthing done... not sure yet... lol

Thanks, Ryan.

If I can't have polyps swaying the current just yet, at least I can have fins scurrying about. :)

Brandon

Just the pair for now.

Thanks, Paul! I like them a lot, too. My wife isn't sold on the female, but I think she'll come around. :)

Hello, can you share some more photos/ diagram
On how you utilize the pillow stuffing ?
What do you put it in? Do you change weekly/monthly

Really interested in this concept

Thanks

Thanks, Ryan. I hate dealing with filter socks and I think mechanical filtration is one of the easiest ways to improve your water quality, so this is my solution. :) A bag of pillow stuffing is $5 at WalMart and should last 6 months or so, I'm thinking... maybe 4 months, but worth it either way.

The Y with the capped off union is going to be where I put my manifold that feeds the other tanks I setup and possibly other things. I don't have the 3/4" tubing and caps to install it yet, so I put a union on and capped it.

Looking good. I am jealous. My 130g is still in the garage. I had it running with tap water last wednesday because I hosted our SDMAS meeting at my house and I wanted to show it off. I can't wait to get it in the house and running. I like the way you did the rock work. It all looks great.

I just put it in a piece of 4" PVC that both of my 1.5" returns drain into. There's a piece of egg crate in there that the pillow stuffing sits on top of and it just acts as a filter. Its a larger, simpler version of the media racks used in nano aquariums. I had my egg crate siliconed in, but it ended up letting go. If I would have sanded the PVC, it might have held better, but I'm going to give Lindsey's idea of a reducer a shot first. That will be almost certain to hold. :)

Thanks, Dave! How long do you think it will be before you're up and running? Soon, I hope. :)
