New 13.5g fluval

Hello, I Currently have a 40 gallon Reef aquarium that is well established about 1.5 years old

I'm wanting to set up my Fluval 13.5g.

I was wondering if I take some water from my 40g, some live rock, and filter media and put it in the 13.5g would that tank be ready to go right away or would there still be a cycling period?

Still learning so any help is much appreciated!

It will definitely make it faster but I would still test it to be sure.

Awesome thanks. Just trying to get a quarantine tank going. Mine cracked due to my error. =/ so wanted one up and going ASAP. thanks again
