New 2 R2R.. Help!!

Lol....ok im not sure if this where i post something or not... Hello all.. im new here to R2R.. im newish to this hobby.. i have had a salt tank b4 had no clue wat i was really doing.. but i bought the tank matured and doing great.. moved a couple of times list some fish corals, but some made it and i would startup again.. Well i went on a cruise and left my brother to just feed the fish and watch out on my tank... well the day i was returning i get a call.. my tank is all on the floor in my living room.. from wat i was told the refugium tank was running low.. i have a stupid hang on back syphone feeder box that u have to adjust with water evaporation.. my brother had no clue wat to do.. called my dad and they put another syphone hose on it.. needless to say the pump couldnt keep up.. i lost everything. This was a out 6 years ago.. (sry for long story .) So last year around September 2013...

i started back up again... tank info.. 120G live rock (alot.. not sure of the lbs), bak-pak protien skimmer.. 36"x8"x18"t refugium(just bought some Chaetomorpha Algae.. light stays on 24hrs, stacked bio balls in supply, good pump in return) power heads at both ends of tank to circulate water on low, hang on back big filter and small(i know i dont need them but i put filter media with carbon and bio balls in them and 2 help move water).. jus recently bought some Tru lumen 48" lights mounted to top of hood.

I have stocked this tank about 3 times and have lost several chromies, clarks clowns, and rabbit family fish to ick outbreak.. ive recently let tank just run without fish for about 2-3 months to kill off the ick life cycle.. also been fighting hair and bubble algae.. found out tap water SUX.. bought an RO/DI and now make my own water..recently stocked 3chromies, a paired clownz, fox face rabbit, scarlet hermits, blue lag hermz, 2 sand sifter starfish, n lil ol horsecrab.... watching youtube videos and realized my refugium way to small and protein skimmer way to small.. so went and found a 40gal long tank and will be building me alot bigger refugium similar to NewYork Steelo on youtube. I need a skimmer and was looking for an ASM G3or4.. pictures of tank i will get of current setup.. One thing that scares me the most is if pump stops working(ex. Pwr goes out) my syphone wont stop.. how do i safe guard from tank emptying into my sump not good thought at all. Any help or suggestions... Thank you very much for any help. FYI-would live to have a beautiful COLORFUL tank.. my GOAL!:xd

Recently.. fox face rabbit has broyght dwn the hair algae tremendously... tank is looking good and bak-pak protein skimmer is fine tuned til 40gal refugium is complete.. tank looking healthy to my eyez.
