Welcome to R2R!

I would recommend running a dc pump for the return pump. Very quiet and very efficient.

Use a pump that's meant to be for saltwater at first and with 220 gallon you looking at close to 2000G pump if used for a return pump only.
Ecotech has the new DC Vectra pump and IMO that's a beast of a pump, a little price maybe for a first time reefer but a no brainer to me.
Looking at you pics it looks like you will install this pump external right?

Welcome home! You will love it here!

+1 on the Ecotech Vectra. I just put the Vectra M1 on my 120 dt and love it. You can have your head right next to it and can't tell it's running. The output on it is really great also, I'm running it at about 60% and have great flow. They can be run internal or external also.
