Hello,

Just wanted to drop by and say hi.

After my husband and I got married back in 1990, we lived in an apartment. We had two salt water aquariums (all fish) but failed to research and do it properly. We currently dont have any but wish to have a 180 gallon aquarium some day. My husband has been reading and doing a lot of research. He wishes to have a reef aquarium this time with very little fish.

I guess my thing is....I remember going to those salt water fish places. Looking in their tanks and seeing all they had. I recall a few places had a display set up to show what a reef tank would look like eventually but it had tons of green algae covering everything and made it look nasty. You could hardly see the corals and the fish they had in there. Is that normal? Reason I ask is because I liked your page on Facebook awhile back. I see random postings on the feed wall of peoples tanks and they looks so crisp and clear.

First of all welcome! And no, a well maintained tank shouldn't be covered in algae. It's a sign of high nutrient load, which is bad for the fish and coral.
