Hi all, after months of preparing the big tank I've finally got the water and rock in it, I'm not sure im happy with the look of it so will probably change it around a bit more. Any constructive criticism and maybe pictures of your own setups would be nice, I don't think there is enough holes/gaps in it, it's still a bit cloudy at the moment will take more pictures tomorrow.

IMHO, I'd give it a bit more open sand at the front and then get the rocks stacked up a bit steeper and higher. Just don't go crazy. You could even try what I did. Buy some egg crate from the hardware and make a ramp to set the rocks on and that leaves room under the rocks for some more open sand that is under the egg crate and rocks like a big cave.

Hi Ron, that's a very good idea. I all ready have things running through my head now, I'd like to create more holes and stacks but getting rocks on their own to safely stay the way I want isn't easy. I've just ordered a load of egg crate and will enjoy being able to make shelf's for the rock to sit on. Thanks for the tip I'll post my new design next week when I get chance to redo it. And I'll read your build thread see if I can steal anymore of your tips.
