I'm new to the forum. That being said I wanted to share my new build to help anyone building, or anyone with any suggestions for me.
I by far do not have all the answers, and am learning every day in this hobby. I will be posting pics as I go with the project. All my gear is as follows:
Marineland tall 220 w/corner overflows
60 gallon custom sump
Phosban reactor 550
Bubble Magnus 180s skimmer
Cad lights cyclone media reactor
Emperor aquatics smart UV
Finnex 800W titanium heater
2 Supreme mag 1200gpm return pumps
2 sicce voyager 3200gph power heads
Aqua medic triple doser
Apex controller system
200lbs live rock
200lbs Fuji pink
Custom stand, custom base, canopy(I own a millwork company)

Hello. Welcome to Reef2Reef. That is quite a list that you have started there.
What kind of lights are you planning?
If it were me, I would consider going with a larger skimmer.
Good luck with your build.
Post photos!

Thanks Wendy,
I lots of research before I bought everything. The skimmer specs say it's rated for up to 260 gallons. Hopefully it works out, since I have bought everything already.

I just finished my stand. I ripped down some 12" LVL beams and framed it out. Here are some pics. You could park a train on this thing, I know it's overkill.

I should mention that the stand is lagged into the wall behind the stand. This takes all the lateral movement out.

Yeah me too! I appreciate the concern. I really wanted the open front to service everything. That would be the definition of a bad day if it fell.

I would be a bit concerned about the lateral stability of your stand

I cant agree more with this statement. And then I read more seeing you Lagged the top to the wall. Can I ask, what size of lag bolts did you use, where, and how many? It looks like you've built an outdoor deck and attached it to the wall basically.

So I've loaded the rock, and sand. Ended up with around 220 pounds of live rock, and another 40 pounds in the refugium. 160lbs of Fuji pink sand.

Set up barrels in the garage to mix all the water, then pumped it into the tank with a garden hose, and transfer pump. Worked out great.

I'll be posting pics later of my plumbing, sump. Had to get the rock under water since it was all already cured. So I filled the tank to just below the overflow level, and ran my power heads for the time being untill I completed the mountain of plumbing.

Well we're getting there. Tank plumbing has been completed. Tank has cycled. I transferred all my stock from my 65 gallon. All are enjoying there new home.
Have my apex hooked up, need to mount everything and clean up the wiring still. I'm in the process of building the custom base, and canopy. Also need to figure out my doser for top off, and buffer. But other than that were almost there.

Wondering if anyone can help. I've had this bubble Magnus hero protein skimmer running for over 2 months now. I can't get it to not over flow bubbles out of the lid. I've tried lowering it, raising it. Anyone with any input would be greatly appreciated.
