I am extremely excited about my new reef tank. But, I have a question for someone...anyone...I ordered some live rock and it will be here today, do I just put the rock in the tank or does it need to be cured??

Thanks in advance, again I am so excited about my new hobby

If you got live rock, set it up in your tank. It will cure as your tank cycles. If you got dry put it in the tank and get about 5 lbs of live from a good lfs to help your tank cycle. I used 25 lbs of dry and 5 lbs of live and had a good cycle.

Welcome, you can place the live rock directly in your tank to cycle your tank. You will have die off which will introduce ammonia but you will also have good bacteria on the liverock itself which will populate in your tank and sump. Best of luck post some photos and keep us posted on your progress.

When I've bought live rock and had it shipped it took 2 weeks for it to cure in saltwater. I've done this twice. If it's a new tank then toss it in. I suggest a large water change before introducing new life.
