Starry blenny has been missing since the day I got him. See thread here: Starry Blenny MIA

https://www.reef2reef.com/index.php?threads/Starry-Blenny-MIA.325563/

Parameters have been steady:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Sg 1.023-1.024
Phosphate 0
pH 8.0-8.2
Calcium 500

dKH dropped to 6 which explains the palys being closed more often and the feather duster hiding. Raised back to 9.

Got a banded shrimp and leather coral today. Gsp and clowns as happy as ever.

Leather not opening. And the palys staying more closed. No starry blenny. Coral banded shrimp died. But Xenia, gsp, clowns, and feather dusters are fine.

So so stumped. Parameters all good. Keeping an eye on dKH and dosing as needed. Xenia and gsp growing!!

Ok so starry blenny will never be seen again. No idea what happened. Coral banded seemed to die after molting stress.

All parameters on par.
Sg 1.024
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Phosphate 0
Calcium 480
pH 8.0
dKH 8 dosed some two par Buffer

Added a six line wrasse and a yellow watchman goby.

So added the goby and slw yesterday mid day. Fed them this morning and the goby's eyes seem cloudy and enlarged. He was able to eat but doesn't seem to see as well.

So confused. The fish that swim in the columns and coral are doing well. The blenny and coral banded shrimp didn't make it. And now the goby issues.

Goby MIA and six line wrasse seems to be dying. So lost.

YWG is blind but eating. SLW did die. Firefish is doing well. Had my water tested at the lfs. All good. Treated for bryopsis this week as well.

All coral and clowns are happy as ever.

Hi welcome to the salty world. Sounds like some early ups and downs. Id say just slow down and let things settle out. I know its exciting and you want a nice reef but it takes time to get there. It takes quite a while to really mature. The “Cycle” is just the start. At the two month mark i had only 2 fish and no coral.

I wouldnt add anything new until you get through the early stages except maybe some snails/hermits. Theres diferent stages of uglies that every tank goes through. All normal but By chasing things you can easily create others problems. I would stick to a regular water change schedule in the early going. A weekly 5 or bi weekly 10 gallon should be enough to keep your Ca, Alk, Mag in check with the coral you currently have.

Love the black sand!

Things are settling in. I have been doing WC weekly like clockwork. YWG is definitely blind but eating.

Getting stable now. Still have the two clowns, firefish, and blind YWG. Xenia, gsp, palys, and leather doing well. Tons of feather worms. Added a green clown goby. Levels are all good.
