New 350 Reefer question

Thanks all. I have a reefer 350 brand new, I am using the Red Sea Reef mature kit for cycling the tank. I am on day 2. Question is, should I be running my skimmer?

Unfortunately I rarely see a rep in here. I haven't used that kit. But the directions say a protein skimmer is a must on day 1, so I would run it.
Some people say not to run a protein ski mmer during the cycle cause it removes bacteria, but since reef mature has you carbon dosing from day 1, I would run it.
