New 40 breeder setup opinions?

Ok last thread I was deciding between a 30g std, 40b in peninsula AIO design or a 40 cube.. every single response I got was for using the 49 breeder to figure lol..

Ok next step.. I showed my wife the AIO design I wanted to use basically using corals joes 2018 nano design and scaling it back slightly to yield about a 26” display foot print. Wife didn’t find seeing a clean filtration appealing. As this is our bedroom and she has to see it too now I’m stuck.

No room for a sump this is going on a dresser. Thought about using the other 40 cube and drilling both on the sides and making it a sump sitting next to the 40 but if the wife didn’t like a clean display fuge she won’t like a normal sump either lol.

So at this point best I can come up with is running an aqua clear 110 with intank basket convert to fuge, and then utilize the entire tank with opposing ow-10 wave makers..

I know this will work and is a simple setup but was really wanting something different. Anyone got ideas that won’t tick of the wife but are not as simple as a hob fuge conversion?

You can still do an AIO. Just get some black acrylic and velcro it to bothe sides of the AIO area. Use black acrylic in the tank. Now you cant see the filter but can remove the velcroed pa els to see inside. I have this on my corner overflow on my 120 works great.

My original plan was to do something like that or use the AIO kit from figi cube.. though the build by coral joe last year was a great idea and looked awesome.. (might still do it and tick the wife off as I know when she see it first hand she will like it)

That said it’s hard to give up 12” of space on a 3’ tank. Wish I was doing a 75 and putting on a stand cause I think and extended AIO would be a good clean setup wo a sump. (Might do this later in the living room lol)

Just trying to see if anyone has any better ideas for a sumpless 40 breeder setup as I would honestly like to maintain the scape ability of the 40 which is why I’m going with it over a the 30g and 40 cube that are also sitting in the garage.

Tbh never really considered the breeder before for this as I was saving it to do with a 30g sump setup. But what better nightlight then some lps glowing under moonlight!
