New 40 GAL tank, heater placement question.

Hello everyone! I just set up my 40 GAL Aquatop aquarium, the dimensions are 23 in wide, 23 in deep. I added sand/live rock yesterday and put in my heater to maintain ~78 degree water. The back approx 3 inches contains the protean skimmer, 5 stage filtration system, and return pump. Would it be acceptable to place the heater in the same chamber as the return pump so its an out-of-sight heater? I have a fear of frying fish/corals if they get to close once i reach that stage in the upcoming months LOL. Currently the heater is in the opposite corner of the thermometer and its reading great! Thanks all for the replies in advance!

As long as the heater element ALWAYS stays submerged, that's where I would put it. As water evaporates, the return section is where the level will go down. As long as you keep it toppped off with RO, or have an ATO, you should be good to go. And welcome to R2R!

yeah i plan on submerging it enough that if it drops a bit while im at work itll stay completely covered, i have a RODI system so water will always be on hand
