Starting over with a 55 and planning to stock mostly LPS and zoes but some SPS. Yes, I know the dimensions on the 55 aren't great but it's what fits the spot. I tried the Orbit Marine IC ED Loops and they are OK but don't seem to have the pop of my old tank (Biocube with custom buit LEDs). I really like the low profile of the Orbits but thinking of switching to two RedSea 50 ReefLEDs. Just concerned about the light spillage from a pendant and how it will work with a glass top (we have cats who will play with netting).

Any ideas on other low profile LED options and should I just run 2 Orbit Marine IC LEDS and call it a day?

Thanks

Have you looked at the Reef Breeders Photon V2+?

I have a tank full of corals that all fluoresce and the Photon V2+ makes them really pop. It isn't cheap, but it's slimline, well made, runs cool, has sunrise/sunset and 6 channel color control. I've been using them for about 3 years now.

Thanks for info! I looked really hard at the Photons but after some back and forth decided to try the ReefLEDs.

Keep us updated on the ReefLEDs, I'd like to know your first impression of them, and get a look at them on a tank!

A pair of Noopsyche or black boxes. The Noops give a lot more shimmer.

Nothing wrong with dimensions of a 55 standard. They are long and narrow which I consider more flexible than more square or deeper.

If you decide with the ReefLeds do update us on how it goes. Im planning on upgrading lights but not much reviews on the ReefLeds.

Will do. I ordered 2 ReefLed 50s that will get here next week. The 90s seemed overkill for a 55 which is only 12" wide and 20" deep.
